MEB Trade Mission to Moscow: a strategic destination

02/10/2017

Under the aegis of Monaco Heritage Days organised by the Monaco Embassy in Russia, the Monaco Economic Board (MEB) is leading a Trade Mission to Moscow, 4 to 6 October, to further consolidate business relationships initiated several years ago.

Although official relations date back to 1877, it was in 2013 when accompanying the first Official Visit by HSH Prince Albert II to Russia that the MEB made firm contacts with its Russian counterparts. Two years later, ‘Russian Year in Monaco’ concluded with a Forum run by the MEB at which partnership agreements were signed with the Russian CCI, RSPP (Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs) and Business Russia.

Then in 2016, a second Trade Mission to Moscow, led by Gilles Tonelli, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, further consolidated ties as part of the 10th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

This third MEB Trade Mission is timed to coincide with the Monaco Heritage Days initiative organised by Monaco’s Ambassador to Russia, H.E. Mrs Mireille Pettiti, in collaboration with the Monaco Consul in Russia, Igor Yurgens. The main events will be on Thursday 5 October and include a Business Forum with its partners in Russia: RSPP, Business Russia and the Russian Federation’s CCI, with B2B meetings and a networking business lunch to maximise opportunities for delegates.

The MEB delegation comprises 26, representing 20 entities operating in the health, consultancy, finance, trade, insurance, transport and Information and Communication Technology sectors. Most of these companies are already established or working with Russian businesses. All are looking to expand and are coming either to seek distributors or franchises, provide expertise or are looking for partners.

Other activities on the programme for MEB delegates relate to events planned by the Embassy. On 3 October there is an event focused on health organised in partnership with the Monaco Princess Grace Check-Up Unit, then on the 4th an event dedicated to tourism, run in partnership with the Monaco Tourism and Congress Authority; and finally, they will attend one of two performances by the Ballets de Monte-Carlo company at the Bolshoi Theatre on 4 and 5 October.

MEB Chairman Michel Dotta MEB is delighted: “This is a wonderful initiative by the Ambassador H.E. Mrs Mireille Pettiti, as it will allow businesses on both sides to further consolidate ties, first established a few years ago between the Principality and Russia.”
