The MEB is leading a large group of Monegasque companies to Japan for Expo 2025 Osaka
From 26 June to 3 July, the Monaco Economic Board (MEB) organised a significant economic mission to Japan, with the support of 32-member company leaders. This effort aligns with Monaco's participation in Expo 2025 Osaka.
Following H.S.H. Prince Albert II and many dignitaries, the entrepreneurs' delegation participated in Monaco's National Day celebrations on June 28 at the Expo. The event featured a range of cultural and sporting activities that highlighted the Principality's prominence, including a charity match between the Barbagiuans legends and the Japan All Stars, a performance by the Ballets de Monte-Carlo, and a concert by the Prince's Carabiniers Orchestra.
The Monaco Pavilion acted as a central hub for numerous MEB activities, thanks to the important collaboration with H.E. Mireille Martini's teams. Monegasque business leaders took the opportunity to explore other national pavilions at this global event, many of which fostered lively exchanges and networking.
A key highlight of this stage was the economic forum and networking session, organised with the CCI France Japon du Kansai, which enabled many connections with specific Japanese economic stakeholders.
Tokyo, a pivotal stage
Following initial achievements in Osaka and a detour through the beautiful Kyoto on Sunday, the mission proceeded to Tokyo, Japan's capital. The focus on innovation was evident through visits to advanced technology centres like the Tokyo Innovation Base and Plug and Play Japan, with Sandrine Sauval, Director of MonacoTech, accompanying the group.
The MEB reaffirmed its partnership with CCI France Japon for an informative event featuring insights into the Japanese market, testimonials from local entrepreneurs, and a focused networking session. This collaboration was formalised through a memorandum of understanding signed by Guillaume Rose, CEO of the MEB, and Nicolas Bonnardel, Director General of CCI France Japon, in the presence of Stéphan Bruno, Director of Economic Development.
The mission concluded with the distinguished "Monaco Soirée" at the Hotel Okura Tokyo. Organised by the Embassy of Monaco in Japan, the MEB, and the Directorate of Tourism and Congresses, this event gathered about a hundred notable guests, including Isabelle Berro-Amadeï, Interim Minister of State and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation; Jérôme Chouchan, President of CCI France Japon; Ken Kobayashi, Honorary Consul of Monaco in Tokyo; and many prominent Japanese business leaders.
This comprehensive economic mission enabled Monegasque companies to engage with the Japanese ecosystem and establish strategic connections. The MEB believes this initiative signals the start of a new era of successful economic partnerships between Japan and Monaco.
