Packed programme for the MEB before summer holidays

16/06/2017

Around 250 players across the economic spectrum attended the Monaco Economic Board’s 29th Members Rendezvous on 12 June. In his speech, Chairman Michel Dotta reported on the latest MEB news including three Trade Missions to Tel Aviv, Astana and Tunis before mid-July.

Held on the Deck overlooking the legendary pool at the Monte-Carlo Beach Hotel, the summer Members Rendezvous was well attended. The venue proved an ideal setting for an event designed for networking, with the MEB team out in force as hosts to bring the different players together and make the introductions. In total, more than 20 industry sectors were represented.

In his speech, MEB Chairman Michel Dotta highlighted the success of back-to-back Trade Missions accompanying official visits by HSH Prince Albert II to Slovakia then Moldovia, 1-5 May, underlining the importance of the Sovereign’s presence “who opens so many doors for us”. Feedback from the 20-plus entrepreneurs who were on the combined trip was very positive.

Another topic raised was the promotion of the financial sector in London since the start of the year in partnership with Monaco For Finance* spearheaded by Minister of Finance and Economy, Jean Castellini. Again, feedback has been positive for all five events planned this year.

Looking ahead, three Trade Missions are on the programme:

- Tel Aviv 19-22 June, with the focus on start-ups relating to the incubator MonacoTech being set-up, and which includes a visit to the Google campus.

- Astana 23-27 June, accompanying HSH Prince Albert II’s visit to the Astana Expo 2017 on Monaco’s National Day.

- Tunis 6-7 July, accompanying a trip by Gilles Tonelli, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation under the aegis of the Monegasque-Tunisian Mixed Commission.

Lastly, attention was drawn to the talk on 29 June by IMSEE Director Lionel Galfré discussing statistics in the just published ‘Monaco en Chiffres 2017’, so vital to companies operating in the Principality.

The next Members Rendezvous is on 18 September at the Yacht Club de Monaco.
