Grimaldi Forum : “We Should Exceed our Record Turnover!”

The Grimaldi Forum, which has just renewed its partnership with CMB Monaco, is set to reach full capacity in 2024.

2023 was a very good year For the Grimaldi Forum, with sales of 21.9 million euros and the anticipated success of the Monet exhibition, which drew 120,000 visitors in 2 months. But the directors of Monaco's cultural and congress centre are expecting to do even better in 2024. “According to our forecasts, we should exceed the record turnover reached in 2019, 24 million euros, and that's without the new building extension!” Sylvie Biancheri, the General Manager of the Grimaldi Forum announced in early January. There will be a gain of an additional 6,000 square metres indoors (and 2,000 square metres outdoors) on Mareterra at the end of 2024. Despite the cancellation of the MAGIC show and a quieter February, the schedule is almost complete. “We owe it to the post-pandemic phenomenon: people need to get back to their old lives,” says the CEO.

The new year will be dominated by the major Turner exhibition (in collaboration with the Tate Gallery) and the CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility). The Grimaldi Forum has just obtained its first ISO 20121 certification and its sixth ISO 14001 certification, two internationally recognised standards in the field of environmental protection and sustainable development. “It was important for us to position ourselves among convention centres that pursue a genuine CSR policy”, and this is demonstrated by the fact that the Grimaldi Forum works one day a year to support community solidarity initiatives, the eco-design of cultural exhibitions and the fight against food waste and poverty. In collaboration with the Principality's charities, the Grimaldi Forum redistributes food that is not consumed at events. “Eco-designed and eco-managed, the building produces no greenhouse gases, benefits from natural thermal insulation, uses seawater and groundwater for its air treatment and is monitored by a centralised technical management system with 20,000 control points. In the span of fifteen years, it has improved its energy efficiency by 35% (by consuming 100% green energy), multiplied its waste sorting rate by 2.5 and divided its water consumption per visitor by more than 2! With 2,500 m2 of photovoltaic panels on its roof, it is also the leading producer of solar energy in Monaco,” a press release stated. “We share this CSR value,” said Francesco Grosoli. Just before renewing a partnership that has lasted for 20 years, the CEO of CMB Monaco spoke of the bank's first carbon footprint, recorded in 2023: 334 tons of C02 consumed, of which 80% related to travel, 18% to energy expenditure and 12% to waste. “When a client invests with us, they now know the ESG (Environmental Social and Governance) footprint of their investments”, announced the banker.
